2010 Schedule of Events
Saturday, February 6th
Charleston Area Food Expo (C.A.F.E.)
Taste. Sip. Sample. And learn how they do what they do. Saturday morning kicks off with acclaimed restaurants, lowcountry flavor, and local culinary talent sharing their insights on their craft through seminars and cooking demonstrations. C.A.F.E. will feature food samplings, wine tastings, a shrimp and grits eating contest, kid friendly activities, a presentation on the importance of supporting our local seafood industry and an ice carving competition. There will be plenty of lifestyle, hospitality and cooking resources on display. This exciting event will close with an attendee’s happy hour. C.A.F.E. will be held in the Omar Shrine Auditorium from 11 am – 8 pm. Admission is $10, children 12 and under are free.

Cooking Demonstrations, Wine Tastings, Food Samplings:
11 am – 5  pm

Shrimp & Grits Eating Competition Noon – 2 pm
Ice Carving Demo & Competition 3 pm – 5 pm
Attendees Happy Hour 5 pm - 8 pm

Sunday, February 7th
Sunday at the Shrine
Lowcountry oysters, food and live music.
Enjoy food with family and friends, a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Listen to live music and sip on your favorite cocktail, beer or soft drink. Sunday at the Shrine will be held in the Omar Shrine Auditorium from 12 – 5 pm.  Admission is $20, children 12 and under are free. Don't forget to bring your oyster knife. V.I.P tickets will be available for Sunday at the Shrine. $45 for V.I.P. seating and open bar.

A two-day pass can be purchased for $25.

Ice Carving Competition

Calling all ice carvers. One of the highlighted events featured at C.A.F.E. will be our ice carving competition. Each carver will have 30 minutes to carve a subject out of a 300 pound block of ice chosen by a panel of judges. Each competitor must provide their own carving tools. Permissible tools include one electric chain saw and any assortment of chisels. Entry fee for competitors is $50.00. C.A.F.E. is now accepting applicants. The chosen 1st place design will receive a $300 cash prize, 2nd place - $150 and 3rd-$75. Email info@charlestonareafoodexpo.com to sign up.

Shrimp & Grits Eating Contest

Be apart of the first shrimp and grits eating contest in the lowcountry. Each competitor will be given 10 minutes to eat as many bowls of shrimp and grits as possible. Entry fee is $10.00. First place winner will receive $300 cash prize, 2nd place- $150 and 3rd- $75. Competitors must be over 18 years old to participate. Now accepting applications. Please note both competitions require contestants to pre-register. You will not be able to sign up for these events at the show.
